We’ve been getting Diagnosis Murder on tv of late, and it reminded me of the good old days of crime tv when there was no gore factor in these shows as they were made for tv viewing at 7:30.
You never saw people really being shot, beheaded, run over, killed etc, what you did get was a good story, a decent mystery, an hour of decent entertainment and an awesome theme tune you remember thirty years later.
Whether it was Murder, She Wrote, Magnum P.I., MacGyver, Diagnosis Murder, The A-Team, Knight Rider, CHIPS, Hart To Hart, Hardcastle and McCormack, Moonlighting, Remington Steele (hot as chocolate Pierce Brosnan), oh my god, Riptide (spunky Perry King) and Simon & Simon (Jameson Parker reminds me of Shaun Cassidy), these shows were so damn good and so good to watch, as much as they may be corny now, at least the whole family could watch them, unlike now, the blood and guts and gore is too much for me, even Law and Order SVU has had me crossing my legs and cringing as a woman.
I think it’s time shows like these were bought back, and not in hard core movie form, but new shows, that are light-hearted and good to watch without bringing in hard core violence and hatred. But I guess without Aaron Spelling and Stephen J Cannel, it seems there’s no one big enough or good enough in Hollywood tv these days who has the guts to bring them back. Not even Castle is light-hearted enough for 7:30.
BRING BACK THE GOOD OLD CRIME SHOWS!!!

This takes me way back to my younger years! I know all of these shows except for Riptide. Things have certainly changed since then.

They certainly have, and even I'm over most of the crime shows. At least with ones like The Mentalist, Numbers and Scorpion they've tried, made them comedic, but they're still not there.
